An Indian delegation led by Union Minister Anurag Tagore walks the red carpet

With an star-studded appearance on the red carpet, an 11-member Indian delegation led by I&B Minister Anurag Tagore walked the red carpet during the inaugural Cannes Film Festival in France on Tuesday, naming India a ‘Respected Country’. March Do Film, the business rival of the Marquee event.
For the Indian team in Kane, Mame Khan, a traditional Manganese singer from Rajasthan, inaugurated the red carpet event as the first folk artist.
During the event, Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Tagore wore a cream-colored band, along with composer Ricky Cage, legendary musician AR Rahman, lyricist and poet Prasoon Joshi and veteran director Shekhar Kapoor who took part on the red carpet. Screening of the opening film “Coupez” (Final Cut) by French director Michel Hazanavicius.
To showcase the uniqueness and diversity of Indian cinema, glamor studded red carpet team made up of film celebrities from all over India. Eleven members walked the legendary stairs of the Palais de Festival, carrying all the symbols of India’s ambition to become the hub of global cinema.
Among the stars was Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a regular in Kane, who is known for his raw and strong acting. Other names on the Indian delegation walking the red carpet include CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi, acclaimed director Shekhar Kapoor, CBFC board member Bani Tripathi Tiku, actress Pooja Hegde, Tamanna Bhatia and Nayanthara. This year, India Cannes is being celebrated as its official Country of Honor in the film ‘March’.
Various regional cinema ambassadors were included in the delegation which sent a signal to the world that India is made up of a combination of regional film industries with different tastes and styles in filmmaking. This year, Southern cinema will be in the spotlight, with actor and producer R. There is Madhavan who was involved in shooting movies in six different languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and English.
The Cannes Film Festival, which is an annual gathering of the world’s leading film industry, will be held from May 17 to 28, 2022 and will be an opportunity for Indian delegates to hold high-level meetings and participate in various events.
