Buddha Purnima: Banks will be closed in selected states today

Banks will be closed in different parts of the country on May 16 due to Buddha Purnima. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, there will be banks in Tripura, Belapur, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, Uttarakhand, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Srinagar. Closed Monday, thus the weekend will be an extended one.
According to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules, all banks in the country, including public, private, foreign, co-operative and regional banks, will be closed on specified days as notified by the country’s central bank under three sections: Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real-Time. Gross Settlement Holiday, and Closing Bank Accounts Not all states observe bank holidays and they vary depending on the state
In May 2022, there were a total of 11 bank holidays, including the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays.

May 16 (Monday) – Buddha full moon. Banks will be closed in Tripura, Belapur, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, Uttarakhand, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Srinagar.
