Chhattisgarh: Tenth, twelfth class examination results announced, girls surpass boys

The results of Class X and XII examinations conducted by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) were announced on Saturday, with more girls than boys in the overall pass percentage.

Announcing the results at the board office here, state school education minister Premsai Singh Tekum said the total pass percentage in Class XII examinations was 79.30 per cent whereas in Class X examinations it was 74.23 per cent.

“In Class XII, the girls recorded a pass rate of 81.15 per cent, while the boys passed 77.03 per cent. 6.84 percent girls have passed the 10th class examination. The boys’ figure stands at 69.07 per cent, “said Tecumseh.

A total of 2,92,611 students registered for the CGBSE High School Certificate Examination (12th) this year, but only 2,87,673 students, including 1,29,213 boys and 1,58,460 girls, appeared, he said, adding the results of 2 87,485 students were declared, of whom 2,27,991 (79.30 per cent) passed.

He said that 3,75,694 regular students have been registered for the CGBSE High School Certificate Examination (Tenth) out of which 3,63,301 students including 1,71,539 boys and 1,91,762 girls have appeared for the examination.

The results of 3,63,007 students have been declared, of which 2,69,478 (74.23 pc) have passed, Tecumseh said, adding that the results of the remaining students in the two exams have been suspended for various reasons.

“Girls have done better than boys in the merit list of 10th and 12th classes. Out of 22 students who got place in the merit list of class XII, 13 were girls. Of the 71 students on the merit list for the Class X examination, 52 are girls, ”he said.

In Class XII, Kunti Sao of Adarsh ​​Gramya Bharati HS School, Pusor, Raigad topped the examination with 98.20 per cent, followed by Khushbu Wadhwani of St. Joseph Convent English Medium HS School, Bilaspur with 96.40 per cent.
Renuka Chandra, Janjagir-Champa of Jamnagar, Jaipur has secured third position with 95.80 percent.

In Class X, Sumon Patel of Mona Modern HS School Baramkela (Raigarh) and Sonali Bala of Naxal-ravaged Kanker District Government HS School Gundamhur topped the list with 98.67 per cent, with six students securing 98.17 per cent and four students second. He said that the students got 98 percent and got the third place.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel congratulated the students who passed and asked them to work hard for better results next time without disappointing those who failed.

The Chief Minister had earlier announced that meritorious students in Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations would be rewarded for helicopter rides.

The district government will also reward the district-based toppers in both board exams with a chopper ride, Baghel said.
