Concerned Amitabh Bachchan fans have prayed to Lord Shiva for his recovery

Kolkata: Hundreds of anxious fans of the ailing Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan performed a yajna here today to pray for his speedy recovery.

Sourav Banerjee of the Amitabh Bachchan Fan Association in Kolkata said, “We are using the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri to pray to Lord Shiva so that he can recover from his health problems pain-free.”

After the traditional costume, hundreds of fans carrying the actor’s poster gathered for an hour-long yajna at Ekdalia Evergreen Park in the afternoon.

Since the news of Big B’s health problems spread, his fans, who have also built a temple for him in South Kolkata, are very worried.

“We have been praying for her health and well-being ever since and we are constantly monitoring the media reports on her health,” Banerjee said.

Another of her fans blamed the actor’s “workaholic nature” for her treatment.

“He has given hits after hitting all his career and his body needs rest at this age of his life,” said Gautam Basak, 32, who is planning to celebrate after returning home from Superstar Hospital.

On February 11, 69-year-old Bachchan underwent abdominal surgery but his stay in hospital was extended after he complained of severe pain.

Big B’s health is reported to be improving at Seven Hills Hospital.
