CUET crash course launched at DU College, notification of withdrawal after hustle and bustle

Delhi University’s Ramanujan College has announced plans to offer a crash course for Common University Entrance Test (CUET) candidates, with even DU officials saying the notification was withdrawn on Friday following tensions over the move.

The poster announcing the crash course was widely circulated on social media, with teachers condemning the move, saying the prediction of promoting the CUET coaching culture is coming true.

According to the poster, the college is offering this crash course in collaboration with the Indian Accounting Association NCR Chapter and a firm Taxman working as a knowledge partner.

Alok Pandey, a member of the DU Academic Council and a teacher at the college, said the notification had been withdrawn from the website. Registration for the course begins May 10. The poster shows a ‘non-refundable’ participation fee of Rs 12,000 including the cost of study materials.

“It simply came to our notice then. We have asked the college to withdraw the notification as soon as we get the information. We have asked them to either give free coaching or charge a nominal fee of 100 to 500 rupees. No fees should be charged from SC, ST and OBC students, “said Balram Pani, Dean of College, Delhi University.

DU has announced that admission in undergraduate courses will be conducted through CUET which has made it compulsory for admission in 45 central universities of the country. Until last year, admissions to Delhi University were based on cut-off marks in Class 12 board examinations.
