Delhi Mundka fire: Burnt human remains found during search operation

Delhi Fire Service (DFS) officials said the bodies of burnt people were found on the second floor of a building in the Mundka area of ​​outer Delhi on Saturday where a huge fire had broken out a day earlier.

DFS director Atul Gorg said it was suspected an explosion in an AC might have started the fire.

A four-storey building caught fire on Friday, killing 27 people so far. The fire started from the first floor where a CCTV camera and router were made and assembled, police said.

The owner of the company, Harish Goel and his brother Varun Goel, who were earlier arrested, have been arrested, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sameer Sharma said.

“Our firefighters searched and found the remains of a burnt man on the second floor of the building. However, we cannot say whether it was the remains of one body or more than one. Although the fire has been extinguished, cooling and search operations are underway.” Still continuing, ”Garg said.

He also said that at present two engines of the fire service are at the spot.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Sameer Sharma, the owners of the company – Harish Goel and Vijay Goel – have been arrested for their involvement in the incident.

An FIR has been registered against the Indians under sections 304 (not punishable by death for criminal offenses), 308 (attempted criminal murder), 120 (concealment of design for punishable offense of imprisonment) and 34 (general intent). Penal Code, he said.

All floors of the building were used by the same company, the DCP said.

A case has also been registered against Manish Lakra, the owner of the building, police said.

The identity of all but one of the 12 injured has been confirmed, an official said.

According to a list released by the West Delhi District Magistrate, the injured were identified as Satish (38), Pradeep (36), Ashu (22), Harjit (23), Nitin (24), Abinash (29), Sandhya (22) and Dhanwanti (21). ), Bimala (43), Ayesha (24) and Mamata (52).

The injured were rescued and taken to hospital, where they were treated, officials said.

Police said a fire call came in at 4.45pm on Friday after which they immediately rushed to the location of the building, near Metro Pillar No. 545.

Police officers smashed windows of the building to rescue people, they said, adding that the injured were admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

During the initial investigation, police found that the four-story building was used to provide companies with office space.

More than 50 company employees whose offices were on the first floor have been rescued and 27 bodies have been found, they said.

Some ambulances were also provided at the scene to provide immediate medical assistance to the rescued.
