EAVX and REE to begin customer evaluation of automated new electric walk-ins

EAVX, a subsidiary of JB Poindexter & Co (JBPCO) and REE Automotive (NASDAQ: REE), an electric vehicle platform provider, announced today that companies will begin evaluating customers’ new fully electric walk-in van (WIV) prototypes. The Summer Class 5 car debuted in the EAVX body design powered by REE’s modular P7 platform, making it a drive-by-wire walk-in van.
The evaluation of the new electric walk-in van will take several weeks in the Detroit metropolitan area. The pre-booked event will give pipeline customers across the retail, delivery and logistics segments an experience of vehicles, its technology and safe production capacity en route to 2023 delivery.
The Walk-in Van Body is a new development and will first appear on the REE P7 platform, which was unveiled in January 2022. The platform is designed to accommodate 3-5 classes of vehicles with payloads up to 4 tons and range. About 600 kms with all-wheel steering, all-wheel drive and autonomous-ready capability.
Road testing demonstrates the maturity of the REE-EAVX next-generation modular walk-in van program for the North American delivery market, first announced in July 2021.
Commenting on the announcement, JBPCO CEO and Chairman John Poindexter said, “By partnering with REE for its innovative REEcorner ™ technology and modular electric chassis, EAVX can build commercial electric fleets of all sizes and across the market.”
“We are a clear step towards exciting, firm ordering for customers to experience the unique benefits of the best X-By-Wire car built by Morgan Olsen Body and powered by REE.” Says Daniel Barrell, co-founder and CEO of REE.
