‘India’s best sports win’: Prime Minister Modi tells Thomas Cup 2022 winners

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Sunday had a telephone conversation with the Indian badminton team which won the historic Thomas Cup. Modi congratulated the team and said that sports analysts should count it as the best sports win in India. He added that he was particularly happy that the team had not lost a single round.

According to a PIB report, Modi asked the players during his talks at what stage they felt they were going to win. Kidambi Srikanth replied that after the quarter-finals, the team’s determination to see the end became very strong and told him that the team’s attitude helped and that each player gave his 100 percent.

Modi further said that Kochra also deserves all the praise.

Modi, while talking to Lakshya Sen, said that he had to give him ‘Baal Mithai’ from Almora as the shuttler was from Devbhoomi in Uttarakhand. Modi further mentioned that Sen is a third generation player.

Lakshya Sen informed Modi that his father was present during the tournament. He also echoed Srikanth and said that after the quarter-finals, Joy’s confidence has become stronger.

HS Pranoy, on the other hand, said that winning the quarter finals was very important. He said that as a result of team support, a strong team like Malaysia has been defeated.

Prime Minister Modi also congratulated Satviksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Sethi for their victory. Speaking in Marathi to Chirag Shetty, Modi said that there is nothing at the top for India to become world champions. Modi said, “You have all achieved such an important feat. The whole team deserves praise. “

After Modi returned to India, he invited the winning team to his residence with their coaches and wanted to talk to them and listen to their experiences in person.

Modi also wanted a winning team message for young children and budding athletes participating in sports like badminton, table tennis or swimming.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Kidambi Srikanth said, “There is great support for sports in India today. Due to the efforts of Sports Authority of India, Government, Sports Federation and elite level – Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) – Athletes feel very well supported. If it continues like this, we think India will see many more champions. ”

Srikanth told the little ones, who were playing their favorite sport, that if they could give them 100 per cent, there would be a lot of support for them in the country. “We have good coaches and infrastructure and they can do well at the international level if they are committed,” he said. “If they can work with 100 percent dedication, they will definitely succeed,” Srikanth said.

Prime Minister Modi also extended his best wishes and gratitude to the parents of the players. Modi also joined the winning party in their cheers and chanted ‘Bharat Mata Ki Joy’ at the end of the call.
