At least 26 people were killed and 12 others injured in a fire that broke out in a four-storey building on Friday evening. According to the Delhi Fire Service chief, the building was operating without proper clearance and fire NOC.
On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the site along with Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and called for a magisterial inquiry. Kejriwal has also announced compensation of Rs 10 lakh to each family of the deceased. The Delhi government has promised Rs 50,000 compensation for the injured.

The fire was brought under control six hours after the incident was first reported to the fire department at 4:40 pm on Friday. At least 60 people were rescued from the blaze.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh to each family who lost their relatives in the fire and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
