PMI’s new e-CV manufacturing plant in Pune will produce 2,500 units per year

PMI, a leading electric bus manufacturer, has laid the foundation stone of its largest electric commercial vehicle manufacturing plant in Pune.
The Chakan MIDC will have a 35-acre facility, employ more than 1,500 people and be able to build 2,500 electric commercial vehicles each year. The plant will be commissioned by August 2023 and commercial production will start by October 2023.
Currently, PMI operates a manufacturing facility in Delhi NCR with an annual production capacity of about 1,500 electric buses. With this expansion in Pune, the annual production capacity will reach 4,000 electric commercial vehicles.
Satish Kumar Jain, MD, PMI, said, “We, as the pioneers of zero-emission commercial vehicle delivery, firmly believe that clean powered commercial vehicles will play a major role in sustainable mobility and we want to actively contribute towards the future.” Achieve the growth of this department and the sustainability goals set by the Government of India.
The company said the strategic location of the facility in Pune would give it access to the Nava-Sheva port as well as Pune’s supply-chain ecosystem, as well as countries with logistical facilities to cater to major markets in the western / central / southern markets – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
