The UP Legislative Assembly will conduct a 2-day training program for new MLAs

A two-day orientation and training program for the newly elected MLAs of the 18th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh will begin on Friday.

The training program for the newly elected MLAs will be conducted by various senior leaders which will end on May 21, the office of Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said on Tuesday.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate the “enlightenment program” (training program) for the new MLAs in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Speaker Mahana, the statement said.

Leader of the Opposition Akhilesh Yadav and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna will also be present on the occasion.

After the inauguration and luncheon, the training of news MLAs will be held at Tilak Hall during which a number of eminent leaders will guide them on various legal business and procedures.

Among the lawmakers who will address the MLAs are Parliamentary Affairs Minister Khanna, former Leader of the Opposition Ram Gobind Chowdhury, former minister and former BJP state president Laxmikant Vajpayee and former assembly speaker Hridoy Narayan Dixit.

A statement from the Speaker’s Office added that Governor Anandiben Patel will also address the MLAs as the chief guest on the closing day of the function on May 21.

Chief Minister Yogi will address the MLAs at the closing ceremony.

Elections to the 403-member UP Assembly were held in February-March this year.

According to the UP Assembly Portal, 128 members have been elected for the first time in the 403-member House.
