Yogi’s tweet has sparked controversy over Lucknow’s name change

A tweet from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sparked speculation about renaming the state capital Lucknow next week.
Welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Lucknow on Monday evening, Yogi wrote in a tweet:
A warm welcome and greetings to the holy city of Lord Lakshmanji of Sheshabata in Lucknow … https://t.co/zpEmxzS3OE

As a result, a debate has started on social media about changing the name of Lucknow to Laxmanpuri.
A huge temple dedicated to Lakshmana is already being built in Lucknow.
BJP leaders have repeatedly demanded to change the name of Lucknow to Lakshanpuri or Laxmanpuri.
Lucknow already has several landmarks in the name of Laxman, including Laxman Tila, Laxmanpuri and Laxman Park.
Yogi Adityanath Sarkar in his previous term changed the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj and Faizabad to Ayodhya.
As a result, the demand for renaming of several districts has increased from Sultanpur to Kushabhwanpur, from Aligarh to Harigarh, from Mainpuri to Mayanpuri, from Sambal to Prithviraj Nagar or Kalki Nagar, from Firozabad to Chandranagar and from Deoband to Deobrand.
Officials, meanwhile, said they were not yet aware of any proposal to rename Lucknow or any other city.
